About the Member Survey for U.S. Ophthalmologists
Each year ISRS partners with Drs. Richard J. Duffey and David V. Leaming to conduct a U.S. Trends in Refractive Surgery survey. The survey allows ISRS members from the United States to have their voices heard on refractive surgery issues.
Regarding the 2008 Survey Dr. Duffey stated, "The 2008 Annual Survey of refractive surgeons for ISRS noted that over 30 percent of refractive eye surgeon members have had modern laser vision correction performed on their own eyes along with over 20 percent of their own children and 40 percent of their and their spouses' sibling. This is four to five times the penetration rate of laser refractive surgery in the general public. What better testimony to the safety, efficacy and satisfaction of laser vision correction for the general public than to have it so frequently chosen by the eye surgeons themselves and their family members for their own visual needs and lifestyles."
