Edward J. Holland, MD
Dr. Holland has served on the Academy's Board of Trustees since 2005 as Secretary for the Annual Meeting. He has been active in the Academy as the associate secretary of the Skills Transfer Committee, which is responsible for courses to train ophthalmologists in refractive and other new surgical techniques across the United States. He is currently director of Cornea Services at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati.
He attended the Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago and trained in ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. He completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the University of Iowa, and then completed a second fellowship in ocular immunology at the National Eye Institute in Bethesda, Md.
Dr. Holland is former president of the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology and former chair of the Medical Advisory Board for the Eye Bank Association of America and is currently chair of the Eye Bank Association of America. Dr. Holland was a recipient of the 2002 Paton Society Award given by the Eye Bank Association of America. He is chair of the Cornea Clinical Committee for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Holland is the past president of the Cornea Society. Dr. Holland has received both the Senior Achievement Award and the Honor Award from the Academy.Among his prestigious honors, Dr. Holland has been listed in the publication Best Doctors in America.
